Drummer Zigaboo
Modeliste is a seminal figure in American music. As part of The Meters
he helped write the book on New Orleans second line funk and he also worked
with Professor Longhair, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Patti Labelle, Robert
Palmer, Lee Dorsey, Earl King, Robbie Robertson, Keith Richards etc ...
Zigaboo is also one of the most sampled drummers in hip hop. Eamonn played
on Zigaboo's second solo CD, "I'm On The Right Track" and continues to
play live with him.

The latest CD
'Soulstice' received rave reviews and blended traditional Irish music with
blues and gospel flavoured Hammond organ inspired and performed by Eamonn.
Todd and Eamonn recently recorded with Nigerian musicians Danjuma Adamu
(Kotoja, Nigerian Allstars, Hugh Masakela), Manus Itene (Spearhead) and
Soji (Kotoja) in a variety of adventurous African and Celtic styles from
jigs to soukous to funk, and also accompanying traditional Zimbabwian mbira
music. Todd, Danjuma and Eamonn are also currently touring the public schools
as part of the San Francisco Symphony run AIMS program.

Louisianna born,
Bay Area favorite Annie Sampson sang with Stoneground and now fronts her
own soul and blues band.
Teaching
Eamonn also
teaches lessons in jazz, blues, funk and other organ styles. Aspects covered
include an overview of the organ, common drawbar settings, playing solid
bass lines using the left hand and pedals, organ voicings, playing the
blues, comping, grooving, soloing, stylistic tricks of the masters (Jimmy
Smith, Jack Mc Duff, Groove Holmes, Booker T, Charles Hodges, Billy Preston...)
and on to more advanced aspects of organ playing. Say hello! |
